Strengths

  • AC Goodeve VB is Tolerant to Orange Blossom Wheat Midge, and provides reduced losses due to feeding damage by wheat midge.
  • It is sold as a variety blend, with AC Goodeve making up 90% of the mix. AC Intrepid makes up the other 10% of the variety blend. This is done to create a refuge area for non virulent midge to survive at low levels therefore extending the useful life of the Sm1 midge tolerance gene.
  • AC Goodeve VB provides genetic insurance against yield and grain quality loss from the wheat midge pest.
  • Midge tolerant with no yield penalty; among the top yielding varieties in the Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba provincial variety trials.
